About Rosehill College

Rosehill College is a coeducational state school in Papakura, about 25 minutes drive south of Auckland city centre. This is on the urban edge of greater Auckland . Students at the college are from rural as well as urban areas.

The college has 1800 students and 180 staff. Rosehill College is a college which prides itself on its academic and pastoral achievements. Our mission 'Together we provide an environment for excellence' is something we like to think we live by on a daily basis.

To ensure that all students feel part of the College and have an ongoing academic and pastoral support, we have a strong House system. This House system is supported by strong student support facilities with two full-time counsellors.

The school currently operates an enrolment scheme to ensure that we do not become overcrowded. The enrolment scheme and the prospectus together provide information about enrolment procedures. Buses are available within the school zone.

Fee-paying overseas students and exchange students are welcome although a strictly limited number of places are available.

With over 30 years’ experience in working with international students, Rosehill College provides a safe friendly environment where students gain their full academic, cultural, and social potential. Students studying in Rosehill College enjoy the challenge of reaching’ Personal Excellence’ in their chosen course of study.

Course Details

The college offers all students a comprehensive range of subjects from Year 9 to Year 13, leading to the national qualifications of National Certificates of Educational Achievement.

The academic year runs from early February to early December with 4 terms, each of about 10 weeks. There is a 2 week holiday at the end of each Terms 1, 2 and 3. The summer holiday is from early December to late January. Students are accepted at the beginning of terms 1, 2 or 3 but preference is given to students applying to start at the beginning of Term 1. However only senior students who commence their studies by the beginning of Term 2 can gain qualifications at the end of the year.

Students do not need to have an international English language qualification to apply to Rosehill College . The College can also assist students who wish to study in an English language programme before they start their high school studies. This can be organised by Rosehill College as part of the application to study at the College.

Accommodation and Welfare

All international students must live in a school-approved homestay. Students are not permitted to live in flats/apartments. Regardless of age, they must live with a family where approved adults care for them. Parents of students who are not living in a school-arranged homestay are required to sign a form releasing the school from responsibility for their welfare outside school hours. All accommodation is regularly visited by the College Homestay Coordinator. All Rosehill College homestay carers and their live-in family members over the age of 18 have been vetted by the New Zealand Police.
